Dear
Friends,

Ephesians 3:20-21 says, “Now to Him who
is able to do far more abundantly beyond
all that we ask or think, according to the power that works
within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all
generations forever and ever. Amen.” In the first month of the
fall semester at MSC, God is amazing us at His abundant work among college
students!
The first week on campus was a whirlwind of activity and meeting people.
We kicked things off with our first Tuesday Night Live of the semester,
which included a free BBQ, door prizes, and singing.
All in all, we had around 140-150 students there.
Nearly 100 of
those were new students, and around 40-50 filled out cards indicating that
they would be interested in a Bible study or talking with someone about
God. Many of those new students were also around when
Josh shared his testimony, and Kyle presented the Gospel! Afterwards,
Kyle got into a 45 minute conversation with a guy name
Mackenzie. After a
few minutes, Kyle learned that Mackenzie was an atheist, so they spent
most of their conversation talking about science and the Bible. Mackenzie
is definitely open to new questions and is interested in talking more with
Kyle!
Other first week activities included “Movie Under the Stars”, Root beer
floats / ultimate frisbee in the park, and meeting people at our info
table in the student center. We met a number of new students including
two guys named Dan
and Scott, both
of whom are getting involved in Jesse’s Bible study.
Last
semester, we told you about a young woman we met named
Chantal. She came to several events including
Bible studies and a retreat, but we never found out exactly where she was
spiritually. A few weeks ago, Rhonda was able to reconnect with Chantal
over coffee. Rhonda found out that she had been searching and was able to
share the whole Gospel with Chantal. At that point, Chantal wasn’t ready
to give her life to Christ, but it seemed like she understood what
Christianity was about for the first time. They began meeting weekly
discussing evidence for creation and Christianity in general. A few days
ago, Chantal realized for the first time that Jesus is God.
Chantal made a decision that
day to begin a personal relationship with Christ! Please pray
for their one-on-one meetings throughout the semester.
In addition to our
regular Bible studies, Rhonda is starting a class for women called
Unveil: You’re Beautiful. It deals
with helping young women understand their true identity in Christ. It
also helps them deal with sexual temptations by examining their belief
system.
A lot of what we will be doing in the
next few weeks is following up with all interested students.
Please pray that no student who
is interested will “fall through the cracks.” We are also
finalizing our one-on-one weekly discipleship appointments for the
semester. Please pray that God will energize us and help us to be
effective as we meet with students weekly.
It is encouraging to see larger numbers of students and
Bible studies this semester, but we want to stay focused on helping each
student to grow. 1
Corinthians 4:2 says, “Now it is required that those who have been given a
trust must prove faithful.” Please pray for us as we strive to
be faithful with each person we meet!

In Christ,

Jesse and Rhonda
