Dear Friends,

“Setting captives free” was the theme of our Spring Break trip this semester.  We took a team of thirteen students down to our ministry’s lodge near Durango, CO.  The purpose of the trip was to equip students in starting conversations, transitioning those conversations to spiritual issues, and in effectively sharing the Gospel.  We also wanted to broaden their understanding of what God is doing around the world (especially in the 10-40 window).
We were able to share the gospel with around 15 students on the Ft. Lewis College campus, which is where our sister ministry is located.  One young woman named Tiffany trusted Christ as her Savior!  Pray that Tiffany will grow in her walk with Christ, as our Ft. Lewis staff will be following up with her.  Also be praying for the other 15 students who we were able to share Christ with.  Many left contact information for the Ft. Lewis staff to follow up with them.
Over six hours of personal evangelism training along with four more hours of witnessing on the Ft. Lewis campus really had an impact on our students.  Many of our students were scared and doubtful about sharing their faith.  One of our guys commented, “I thought we were just going to be bugging people.”  After going out and sharing the first day he said, “People really wanted to hear!”  Other students made comments like, “We should be doing this on our campus!”  Please pray that we will able to carry this momentum back to our campus for the rest of the semester.

Rumble in the Rec

We have been having Rumble in the Rec Center on Friday nights this semester.  Rumble in the Rec is designed as an outreach and alternative to Friday night partying.  We rent the campus rec center out for an extra hour or two and intentionally try to get into spiritual conversations with students during pick-up basketball games, indoor soccer, etc.

This semester, God has opened an exciting door.  The first Friday of every month, we are partnering with the MSC activities council to put on the event.  Pray that this will have an impact on the activities council staff and also that it will bring in a greater amount of students.

Giants of Silence is a traveling band with Campus Crusade for Christ’s music ministry, Keynote.  They were able to come and play during one of our “Rumbles” on Friday night.  At the end of the night, around 110 students cycled through the rec center.  One guy, Matt, sat through the entire concert.  Kyle was able to talk to Matt for about an hour afterwards.  A couple weeks later, Jesse also talked to Matt in the snack bar on campus.  Please pray that Matt will trust Christ as his Savior.  Some of the band members were able to share some of their testimony and the Gospel with Zack and Sarah.

Snow Day on the Mesa

We met two new people during our snow day, Chantal and Sam (Samantha).  Rhonda was able to get into a spiritual conversation with Chantal and even share most of the Gospel.  The next day our students led the worship service at a local church.  Our music team led singing, Val and David gave their testimony, and Josh gave a message.  This was a good time for our students to be further developed as leaders in a setting other than our campus meetings.

One-on-One Discipleship

Please continue to pray for our one-on-one discipleship meetings.  Last month we told you about Chanel and Tracy- students that Rhonda is meeting with.  Chanel is starting to grasp the fact that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven.  She recently acknowledged that there is no other way to get to the Father except through the Son. Praise God!  Please continue to pray for her growth.  Tracy has also been an encouragement to work with.  She seemed to drift away from the group for a little while, but has started to come back to Bible study and Tuesday Night Live (our main meeting).  Please pray also for Chantal who came on the Snow Day.  She came to our most recent girls Bible study and truly seems to be searching.  Pray that Rhonda or one of the students would be able to share the Gospel with her and that she would come to trust Jesus Christ as her Savior!

Jesse has seen significant growth in several of the guys he has been meeting with.  Sean went with us on the spring break trip and has gained confidence in sharing Christ with others.  He is now strongly considering going on a 10-week summer project with Campus Crusade for Christ.  Aaron also went on the spring break trip.  Jesse has been challenging him to develop a more consistent walk with God through daily time in the word.  Aaron appears to be responding.  He recently made the comment, “It’s becoming easier and easier to spend time in God’s word.”

There are many more individual students that are growing and need prayer.  It is amazing to watch God work in their lives.  Thank you for your vital part in this work!

Trusting in Him,

Jesse and Rhonda Denison
