at Mesa State College

Dear Friends,

The Fall 2007 semester is only 3 weeks away!  August 20 is the first day of classes.  We are very excited to see what God has in store for Mesa State!  In these coming weeks, there will be much planning and preparing for the semester.  Please pray that we will be efficient and that God will lead us in everything He wants to accomplish.

Please be praying specifically for our leadership retreat.  August 16-18, we will be holding the retreat for our key leadership students (servant team).  We will be taking time to prepare both spiritually as well as logistically for the semester.  During the retreat, we will be doing a “prayer walk” around the campus.  Thank you for joining with us in prayer.  Pray that our team will continue to develop a heart to reach Mesa State!
The first week of school we will be setting up an info table in the student center, helping the freshmen move in to the dorms, having a BBQ on campus, and trying to meet as many students as possible.  We will have the chance to meet students who need to hear about Jesus and also meet students who could be key future leaders.  The first two weeks of a semester are critical.  We need your prayers to get off to a strong start!

Staff Conference 2007

We had the privilege of attending the 2007 Campus Crusade for Christ U.S. staff conference July 19-26.  Since Master Plan Ministries is a partnership ministry with Campus Crusade, we are able to join in on several of their conferences, summer projects, etc. We were very encouraged by the conference and what God is doing all over the world.  It was amazing to see thousands of staff people that have a similar purpose to ours on college campuses all across the U.S.
We were challenged by all of the speakers and seminars, but a few things really stood out.  Chip Ingram, one of the guest speakers, talked about Trusting God when what He does doesn’t make sense.  He challenged us to stop thinking about Jesus Christ simply as our “problem solver”, but more importantly as our Savior who desires a close relationship with us.  Crawford Loritts, another key speaker, challenged our thinking about ministry.  One of his most memorable quotes was, “Greatness is about being faithful with the opportunities God gives us, not about great opportunities.”  Please pray that we will be faithful with the opportunities God gives us at Mesa State!

Summer News

It has been encouraging to see 10-15 students regularly coming to our summer edition of TNL (Tuesday Night Live).  Thank you all for praying this summer for our weekly study of I Timothy- it has gone very well!  Thank you for praying for our summer project students, Sean and Hope.  We have heard from them both and it sounds like they have both matured in Christ over the summer.  It is amazing to see how God works in student’s lives over the summer when we don’t have as big of a part in their lives.  It is a good reminder for us that it is God who truly causes people to grow!

Because of His faithfulness,

Jesse and Rhonda

Prayer Request

Many of you know we have been considering adoption for some time now.  Recently we have been praying more seriously for direction and God’s timing.  Please pray that God would show us HIS timing and also what type of adoption we are supposed to do (overseas, domestic, or through foster care).  Thank you for your prayers!
