Dear
Friends,

Just
three days before the start of the Spring 2007 semester at Mesa State, we
found out that we would be at 100%
of our monthly support! Thank
you for persevering with us through this past year of raising support. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Your continued prayer and financial support will be a vital part of
God working through us at Mesa State.
We’ve
just finished our fourth week of campus ministry.
It has been both
exciting and challenging! During the first week, our goal was to meet as many students
as possible. We set up an
information table in the student center and passed out flyers and free hot
chocolate. We
were able to meet several students who have since gotten involved,
including: Rachael, Tracy, Nick, Jace, Sean, and Casey.
We’ve also met new students through
Tuesday Night Live (our main meeting) including Nathan, Aaron, and Chris.
We are discipling many of these students individually and several
of them are also getting plugged into small group bible studies.
Please pray for their growth and focus on Christ throughout the
semester.
Music
and Men’s Ministry
Jesse:
At the beginning of the semester, I had set up
one-on-one appointments with about 10 guys.
Right now, it
looks like around six of those will be solid
throughout the semester. Please
pray that I will meet more guys who are hungry and ready to grow in
Christ. Please be praying for
Nick.
I met him the first week of school and I was able to sit down and
share Christ with him. He
indicated that he had previously accepted Christ into his life but had
gotten off track. He seemed
super hungry for the Word and wanted to meet with me every week.
Unfortunately, he has not shown up to anything since the first week
and we haven’t been able to contact him.
Pray that God will bring him back!
Right
now we have around eight students serving on the music team.
God has also allowed me to connect with several guys as a direct
result of the music ministry. Please
be praying for Jace.
Jace is a bass player who got involved because he knew we had music
on Tuesday Nights. He
recently accepted Christ, and I am currently meeting with him one-on-one.
I’ve also met Aaron
G. (a guitar player), and another Aaron
M. (a bass player). We
want to see these guys built up in the Truth and develop a “Great
Commission” mindset!
Women’s
Ministry
Rhonda:
I’ve met many young ladies who are at so many
different places in their walks with God.
I am meeting with 10 girls and I am encouraged about what God is
doing in their lives! Since this is the first time there has been a full-time staff
woman on campus, it is like starting a whole new part of the Mesa State
ministry!
I
met Tracy
when we were handing out hot chocolate.
Tracy is coming to all our activities now and meeting with me
one-on-one, but is faced with some difficult choices.
She seems ready to “get off the fence”, but is distracted by a
relationship with a guy who is not walking with Christ.
This is a common issue among many of the young women.
Please pray that they will develop their identities in Christ.
Anna has been involved with us for the
past couple years, but was being held back by a bad relationship.
Anna broke up with her boyfriend last semester and is now in the
process of discovering who she truly is in Christ!
Pray that she would be an encouragement to Tracy!
I
met Chanel
at Trash club (where we take out the students’ trash from their dorms)
and then she came to our Friday night outreach, Rumble in the Rec Center.
She says she is a Christian, but also believes that “you can find
God in every religion.” I have been meeting with her one-on-one now for 3 weeks going
through the truth of God’s word! Pray
that her eyes would be opened to the fact that Jesus is THE way to God
(John 14:6).
There are so many other stories I could tell you that would make
this an 8 page letter! Please
pray that our ladies would mutually encourage each other and point others
to Christ!
February
Retreat
The
theme for our February retreat was “Renewing
the Mind.” Josh,
Natalie, and Val (leadership students) gave
talks on “Fence-walking”,
“The Abundant Life”,
and “Decision Making.”
We talked about the fact that the Bible does not leave any room for
“walking the fence.” (Matthew 6:24, 12:30)
After talking with several of the students afterward, it seems that
the talks and discussion groups really had an impact.
Sean, who is being discipled by Jesse, talked about how the retreat
made him rethink some choices he had been making.
Rachael decided to spontaneously go on the retreat about an hour
before we left. She ended up
really connecting with the group and is now excited about the opportunity
to share Christ with her roommate, Alethia!
Finally,
thank you again for sending us (Romans 10:14-15)! Pray that our monthly financial support will continue to stay
strong and that God will continue to bring more partners to share in
influencing the lives of college students.
Please rejoice with us that we are now on campus!
“The
one who calls us is faithful and He will do it.” -1 Thessalonians 5:
In Christ,
